Sabbath Place
Welcome to Sabbath Place.

It is the practice of helping others to awaken to the mystery of the Divine in all of life and to respond to that discovery in a growing relationship of freedom and commitment.
Exploring various spiritual disciplines, and through dialogue, workshops and retreats (both guided and self-directed), clients will be encouraged and aided to tell their sacred story, learn to live in peace and with compassion, and live in relationship with that which lies beyond our understanding.
Spiritual Guidance is not 'advice'. Rather, it is a relationship between the client and Spiritual Director wherein one is companioned in the journey to pay closer attention to the call of the Divine, in an accepting, confidential atmosphere. It is an on-going, supportive realtionship in which the client or seeker, desiring to be attentive to their own spiritual life, meets with the Spiritual Director, specifically for the purpose of becoming more attuned to the Holy, in order to respond more fully to that Presence in all of life. The director is only a facilitator in the process; the client must claim the journey for their own.

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese holistic, light-touch, energy-based modality. Working as a support mechanism to the body, Reiki re-establishes a normal energy flow of ki (life force energy) throughout the system, which in turn can enhance and accelerate the body's innate healing ability. Through a series of hand positions either directly on or just above the body, the energy worker allows for the flow of energy through their body. Reiki is simple and produces measurable results. It is power, light and love.
What happens during a Reiki session?
Often there will be soft, meditative music playing and perhaps incense burning. Some practitioners will also use crystals to focus the energy. The practitioner's hands remain in a stationary position, gently on or slightly above the body through several positions from head to toe. There is no manipulation of the skin or tissue. Reiki is not massage. Most individuals experience a calm, relaxed state. In some, chronic or acute pain can diminish or completely vanish. Sometimes allergies and other infirmities completely disappear. It's different for each person.
What can be expected after a session?
Directly after a Reiki session, you should allow yourself time to come fully back into your awareness. It is suggested to sit for a few minutes and sip a cool glass of water or fruit juice. Becoming in touch with the soles of your feet and their placement on the floor also helps a great deal.
You may book a session with our Reiki Master by calling The Centre.
Sessions are typically 45 minutes & cost $54.00 (sorry: cash only at this point). In preparation and to maximize the benefits, a short guided meditation precedes each session and self-directed meditation can follow. As you continue to experience the benefits of Reiki, our Reiki Master is available for follow-up dialogue.
Pets are an important part of our energies; for our Reiki Master, all the moreso and you will often find her canine companion present to greet you and then curl up quietly during your session. Please advise at the time of booking your session if you have allergies.
Sage or Sweetgrass incense is burning during your session. Again, please advise at the time of booking your session if you have allergies.
Reiki can be offered sitting in a chair, reclining in our rocking chair or on a Reiki table. Your comfort is one of the most important aspects of Reiki healing; please let us know which position is most comfortable for you.
A Reiki session can also be given preceding Weddings, Hand-fastings, Baptisms, Namings or other important milestones. Reiki energies can be put in to new homes or businesses and can be used to ‘clear’ negative or unwanted energies. As well, we offer Couples’ Reiki sessions to the LGBT community. Rates may vary.
Meditation is a mental discipline by which one attempts to get beyond the reflexive, "thinking" mind into a deeper state of relaxation or awareness. Meditation often involves turning attention to a single point of reference. It is recognized as a component of many religions, and has been practiced since antiquity. It is also practiced outside religious traditions. Different meditative disciplines encompass a wide range of spiritual practices which may emphasize different goals—from achievement of a higher state of consciousness, to greater focus, creativity or self-awareness, or simply a more relaxed and peaceful frame of mind.
The purpose of meditation is to make our mind calm and peaceful. If our mind is peaceful, we will be free from worries and mental discomfort, and so we will experience true happiness; but if our mind is not peaceful, we will find it very difficult to be happy, even if we are living in the very best conditions.
With the hectic pace and demands of modern life, many people feel stressed and over-worked. It often feels like there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. Our stress and tiredness make us unhappy, impatient and frustrated. It can even affect our health. We are often so busy we feel there is no time to stop and meditate! But meditation actually gives you more time by making your mind calmer and more focused.
Meditation can also help us to understand our own mind. We can learn how to transform our mind from negative to positive, from disturbed to peaceful, from unhappy to happy. Overcoming negative minds and cultivating constructive thoughts is the purpose of meditations This is a profound spiritual practice you can enjoy throughout the day, not just while seated in meditation.
The benefits of meditation are many, and can bring about feelings of confidence and self control, increased concentration, better relationships and reduced stress levels to name just a few.
Once you have found your own inner stillness, through regular meditation, you will be able to access it again and again and with ever greater ease. This brings with it many far-reaching and profound benefits. You will start to notice some changes within yourself fairly quickly; others will take more time. If you are so inclined, it is worth keeping a diary, so that, after some experience of meditating you can look back on how you have changed.
Discovering your own inner stillness will have a ripple effect on the rest of your life, bringing surprise benefits as well as some that are more predictable, such as better health and a longer attention span.
Meditation does not mean ‘zoning out’. In fact, regular practice will make your mind much sharper and quicker. The ability to concentrate is hugely enhanced, so that tasks take less time and feel easier to accomplish. When you decide to do something, you will be able to just do it, instead of wasting time agonizing about it.
Benefits of Meditation:
- Confidence and self control
- Improved concentration
- Inner certainty
- Ability to focus and work efficiently
- Ability to let go of negative emotions such as anger and paranoia
- Improved posture
- Greater enjoyment of the physical
- Better personal relationships
- Improved health
